CLS & Nationwide

Depending on which options the qualified retirement plan has available, CLS will allocate the account to a mix of either:

  • CLS-managed AdvisorOne Funds.
  • Index Funds, which may be available within the plan provider’s product. These funds are low cost in nature and include, but are not limited to Vanguard Funds.
  • American Funds, which may be available within your plan and are renowned for their managers’ stock-picking expertise and long-term focus.

Plan participants receive access to CLS’s innovative video statements, market commentary, and more.

Options within Nationwide Products

Level Option

Participants who want to keep their risk budget constant even as they near retirement may want to consider the Level Option. With this option, the participant’s account will be managed at the risk budget calculated from his or her responses on the initial participant questionnaire until he or she specifies otherwise.

Lifestyle Option

Participants who want their risk budget to gradually decline as they near retirement may want to choose the Lifestyle Option. With this option, the participant’s account is initially allocated based on the risk budget calculated from his or her responses on the participant questionnaire, but the risk budget will automatically decrease by one point every year. Participants will begin at their individual comfort level and continue to get more conservative as they get closer to their financial goals. CLS’s Lifestyle Option offers instant diversification and is a low maintenance, disciplined approach to portfolio management.

AdvisorOne 30% Protection Option

If offered by their plan, CLS’s AdvisorOne 30% Protection option is suitable for participants who are especially sensitive to market declines due to a shortened investing horizon or an extreme fear of decreasing account value. A portion of the participant’s account is invested in CLS’s Shelter Fund, which seeks account growth when the market is flat or performing well, yet moves to conservative assets if the market severely declines. The remainder of the account is placed into a mix of other funds appropriate for the participant’s Risk Budget, which also automatically decreases by one point each year he or she is enrolled in the plan.
