Each quarter Morningstar publishes a report entitled the Morningstar ETF Landscape Report.  The report tracks 648 ETF strategies from 153 firms on a regular basis.

The CLS Aggressive ETF model ranks in the top 4%¹ for its 5-Year performance as of December 31, 2013, with an annualized total return of 18.3%.  For 2013, the portfolio ranked in the top 12%¹ of all portfolios with total return of 24.7%.

While the one year performance is nice to see, it is the 5 and 10-year performance that is most notable.  At CLS we seek to control risk and meet client expectations for volatility in their portfolios.  This means we are not swinging for the fences.  As time goes on we will strive to seek out value and strive to deliver returns that add up over time.  This consistent approach helps keep clients invested in the market.  A quality partnership for the long term is what we strive to achieve with our advisors and clients.

This is a great accomplishment and one which we are extremely proud of our portfolio management team for attaining.

¹Rankings are based on total annualized return for the specified time period. Total annualized return numbers were calculated by Morningstar in their ETF Managed Portfolios Landscape Report for Q4 2013. To determine 5-year rankings, annualized return numbers were taken from 1/1/2009 to 12/31/2013 and measured against all other managed ETF portfolios for which the same data was available – 362 portfolios. To determine 2013 ranking, annualized return numbers were taken from 1/1/2013 to 12/31/2013 and measured against all other managed ETF portfolios for which the same data was available – a total of 622 portfolios.
